Biography

Dr. Rosabel Loya, DPM is a Texas panhandle native and a proud Texas Tech alum. At Texas Tech, Dr. Loya received her Bachelors in Anthropology and went on to receive a Masters in Medical Microbiology and Immunology. For medical school, she attended Barry University’s school of podiatric medicine in Miami Florida where she graduated with honors. She completed a three year surgical residency in Tucson Arizona as part of the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. While there, she received the Resident of the Year award for her hospital.

Through both her education and residency, Dr. Loya has gained extensive training, knowledge, and experience in foot and ankle injuries and care. She has had the opportunity to work and train with some of the latest and most innovative treatment options available. She is comfortable with both surgical and noninvasive treatments and working with everything from ingrown nails, heel pain, diabetic foot care, wound care to sports injuries, bunions, and hammertoes. Dr. Loya specializes in patient-centric and patient-educational care. It is because of this focus that she was awarded an I Care Core Value Recognition award from the VA Healthcare System for her dedication to patient care and education.

In addition to her clinical and surgical work, Dr. Loya has been involved in multiple research studies involving amniotic tissue grafts, remote temperature monitoring, and wound care surgery to help her stay current on all the treatment options available to her patients.

Dr. Loya enjoys traveling, hiking, dance and strength training fitness classes, trying new foods, and spending time with her partner and their dog Twix as they cheer on the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.
